Acne

Characteristics

Comedones (blackheads), papules and pustules (pimples) are characteristics of acne. Approximately 85 to 100% of people suffer it. Acne can occur both in adolescence and in later life as a result of genetics, hormonal changes, medication, stress, contact with certain substances, and nutrition.

An acne skin has the following features which can strengthen each other:

  •     increased sebum production
  •     a strong hardening of the follicle (accumulation of dead skin cells)
  •     presence of bacteria in the pores (this may cause infection)

Treatment Options

In the case of a light acne the first recommendations area a modified cleanser, toner, and gel , possibly combined with benzoyl peroxide, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, antibiotics or retinoids.
In the case of moderate to severe acne medication is applied in the form of antibiotics or isotretinoin. Girls and women may also benefit from using contraceptives.

Advice

Use non-comedogenic products, which do not irritate the skin and allow the pores to remain open. Remove blackheads hygienically during a facial.

Tip

Mediclinic offers acne facial treatments with glycolic acid (Mene & Moy) based products where the skin is cleansed thoroughly and in depth. The skin looks fresh and clean afterwards. If necessary, this can also be followed by a course of 4 to 6 peelings (peel mask or milk peel) with an interval of about 2 weeks. For this it is necessary to prepare the skin 2 to 4 weeks prior to the peeling with a OM glycolic acid cream. During treatment, the skin may tingle slightly, without being painful. A few days after the treatment, the skin may feel some tightness with slight scaling. With a gentle exfoliation the dry skin can be removed. A customized moisturizer is essential and non-comedogenic makeup is allowed. Special treatments / facials for teens are also available.

If you suffer from blemished skin or acne on the back we can give you a customized peeling and packing to remove the impurities.
